One of the best restaurant in serampore area. As a student also I had visited the restaurant once, long back, and the charm still remain strong. The ethnic settings, mouth watering fish fry, finger licking biriyani with chicken chap makes the circle complete. Still parking is a big issue. Being located in a very busy junction, it is not possible to park vehicles near the restaurant. Otherwise it's an amazing experience which we should definitely get back

Returning to Kolkata while passing by Sreerampore Mukherjee's and stopping to have dine out there was no doubt a fantastic decision made. What a vintage ambience. Perfect dinning, lovely food both in terms of quality and quantity added to some great experience. Must try dish golden fish fry(vetki).

Mukherjee's Restaurant (mukhaarji's restturentt) 614, Grand Trunk Rd, Serampore, West Bengal 712201 (around 1 km from Serampore Railway Station, easily walkable) I visited Mukherjee's Restaurant yesterday after pandel hopping during Durga Puja in Serampore. The place is very popular and the main restaurant, known for its grandeur and Old Bengal charm, was absolutely packed when we reached. They do have a waiting hall, but we were in a hurry to catch our train. After a short discussion, the manager guided us to their adjacent building which they had opened as a temporary dining space. The temporary hall looked more like a Bengali wedding venue with ordinary tables and chairs, but it was decently set up with proper air conditioning. It did not have the heritage charm of the main dining hall, but in that moment it was a lifesaver. We ordered Butter Naan (80/piece) and Chicken Bharta (320/plate). Complimentary onions and green chillies were served along with the dishes. The butter naan was excellent, soft, fluffy, and crisp at the edges, brushed generously with butter. The chicken bharta, however, was a mixed experience. Instead of the familiar Kolkata style bharta, the gravy tasted closer to a chicken chaap. Not bad at all, just a bit unexpected. Staff behaviour was polite and prompt, though the billing process took longer than expected as they had to bring the bill from the main restaurant. One small slip was that they added a mineral water bottle to the bill which was never served. Once pointed out, they quickly deducted it without any fuss. Overall, it was a decent experience given the festive rush. I would like to return on a calmer day to enjoy the actual ambience of the main restaurant itself which Serampore locals often praise. If you are around Serampore and looking for a proper sit down meal near the station, this place is definitely worth a try.

The fish fry was probably the best I've ever had--totally lived up to the hype. As for the biryani, it was just average for me. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad at all; it was light, and the chicken was cooked well. I just wished it had a bit more flavor and ghee to really elevate it. As for the service, no complaints there. Our only regret is that we went at a time when the tandoor items weren't available, and we were really hoping to try some kebabs. So, I'd suggest avoiding visits before 6-6:30 pm if you're craving tandoor dishes, since their tandoor isn't set up before that.

This place originally began its journey as a catering service but opened their outlet few years back which in my opinion was pretty bad idea simply because of their poor hospitality. Once you step inside, it does greet you with a British touch in their ambiance but the waiters spoil the whole show! It seems they only smile to the customers they know and dont even care to clean your tables(removing plates) after you had your starters as if its perfectly fine to eat your main coarse in that very same plate in which you had your starters. The place seemed pretty much understaffed or maybe inexperienced as neither hospitality nor service was in line with its finely set up colonial ambiance. Coming to food- ya, its undoubtedly the best thing specially the Mutton Biriyani. I did try some other dishes too but Biriyani is the must try. Here are the ratings of the dish that I had: 1.ajwaini fish tikka- 3.5/5 ( they claimed vetki, but it wasnt pure vetki as the fish was pretty stiff. I have attached the pic.Have a look and decide) 2. Murgh tangri kebab - 4/5 ( good) 3. Mutton Biriyani - 5/5 ( best) 4. Mutton curry - 3/5( pieces are great but the curry could have been much better as I felt needless spices were added to make it taste costlier. Definetly not worth the penny) 5. Tandoori Roti - 1/5 ( I dont think they are into breads much, so better avoid. You can try the normal fulkas though) 6. Firni - 2/5 (i am not a sweet lover but I personally didnt like it when I compare its firni to Arsalan or Aliah) Overall the experience was okayish but special mention is the Mutton Biriyani on the positive and atrocious hospitality on the negative.
