Located on the Netaji Road near the famous Meenakshi temple, Sri Sabareesh Mess offers a good spread of authentic vegetarian South Indian cuisine. There is paid parking available less than a hundred metres away. The place is so popular that the restaurant is often full. The menu offers a decent spread of traditional South Indian breakfast. The service was very quick. The food was very good - we tried different dosas, vada and pongal.
Excellent rooms and room service by the entire team from reception to bell boy have been really good. Usually I dont prefer buffet breakfast but this was a very good option. The buffet breakfast with their food has the been best part of the madhurai travel. Please do consider sabareesh hotel. Special mention to parvathi who served food service really well. Today through swiggy I ordered wheat dosas and idiappam. Horrible quality and taste. The wheat Dosa found be stale and very old rice batter mixed with wheat powder. Totally disappointed with the poor quality. Very pathetic quality. Earlier days, Sabareesh used to be a very famous for its quality . But now brand sabareesh name has become a disappointment.
I recently visited Madurai and stumbled upon this hidden gem for breakfast, thanks to a friend's recommendation. The place exceeded my expectations and lived up to its hype. We indulged in their signature ghee pongal, ghee masala dosa, and saffron kesari - each dish was outstanding! The dosa was exceptionally crispy, infused with a rich ghee flavor, and served with an assortment of chutneys and a side of kesari. The pongal was equally delicious, and their tea was a perfect accompaniment. If you're craving authentic South Indian cuisine in Madurai, this place is a must-visit. Plus, it's conveniently located within walking distance from the railway station.
