SAMBAR IS A MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT AND NOT UPTO THE UDUPI MARK AT ALL, FOOD IS PRETTY AVERAGE given the price it does make sense. We visited Tiffin Shastra for dinner, ordered for Sambar Vadai, Ghee Podi Thatte Idli, Benne Dosai and Benne Podi Masala Dosai. Both the dosais were really tasty, the chutneys too were good. However the sambar was a COMPLETE DISAPPOINTMENT. We weren't told that they had chennai, and bangalore sambar so please ask them before collecting your order. We ate with chennai sambar only which was SO SO BAD, edible but not good. Then out of curiosity and hoping the Bangalore Sambar being good, when we ordered for the Ghee Podi Thatte Idli, we asked for the Bangalore Sambar which was weirdly sour to and extent it felt like it was going spoilt, and it honestly tasted like normal sambar with sugar. The ambience gave udupi cafe in bangalore feels, however there is no seating and south indian food is served only in the ground floor (which in my opinion is a bad idea as usually old people prefer south indian and when you come as a family you can't help it) you should consider serving south indian on the first floor too. We also got parcel of Khara Bath and Idiyappam. The Khara Bath tasted like it had Garam masala mixed in it and was weird. Eating Circles in Alwarpet is a better choice incase you're looking for authentic option.

Pros: Restaurant theme looks promising as of Rameswaram cafe. Menu looks decent. We ordered malai kofta, which is so creamy it tasted good. Breads like kulcha, naan are promising. Starters are great too. We got a non Ac roof top seating. I personally felt non AC with atmosphere is a fine dine. Cons: South Indian foods are provided in ground floor and no seats are provided. Why would you do that !? North Indian and Chinese foods are provided with dine in set up. Restroom is a unisex one and one user. This has to be improved. We ordered kadai paneer which was pathetic and never expected the horrible taste. Overall the management has to take care of these cons which i would welcome the change.

Wanted to visit here for sometime, just couldn't get the proper group. So we went here early evening, a somewhat less crowded, not expected. Theres one thing, we Tamalians don't prefer. That's the stand & eat concept. Works in Bangalore, Mysore, elsewhere, but somehow, we like a sit down and service concept. I mean, the food not priced cheap, so doesn't hurt to be served seated. Anyways, nothing wrong about the food, dosa, rava idli, Mangalore buns, neer dosa, coffee all quite as per standard quality. I found the outer table arrangements bit odd. Decor very pleasant. Service area should have a Tamil supervisor, who knows about the dishes. Nothing against Hindi boys. All very good, but ... Tea was unavailable even at around 6.30pm! The guy was just boiling the milk and tea leaves. So didn't get chance to taste it. Small things overlooked can lead to big mess. Been there, seen it.

I had placed order for phulka and veg curry. Phulka is expensive. For 2 small piece they charge rs.105. I specifically mentioned less oil and spice in veg curry. After 40 mins of wait i requested cancel my order. Person immediately went upstairs and brought my order down mentioning it's already ready. Curry is flooded with oil. They charge money but doesn't serve customer as expected. Totally not worth for the price.

Tiffen Shastra is a great spot in Nanganallur to hang out with family or friends and enjoy some delicious South Indian tiffin. The Open Benne Dosa, Rava Idli, and Akki Roti are absolute must-tries - full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The sambar here is unique - not strictly Karnataka or Tamil Nadu style, but a well-balanced fusion of both that complements the dishes well. Seating is available both upstairs (air-conditioned) and downstairs (standing and non-AC), catering to different preferences. The only downside is limited parking, especially during peak hours. Overall, Tiffen Shastra delivers a great ambience, prompt service, and food that hits the spot. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!
