Andhikadai - A Must-Try Traditional Vegetarian Lunch Spot
We visited Andhikadai for lunch last Saturday during the Purattasi month. The restaurant is located along a side street, so car parking is quite difficult, though two-wheelers can be parked on the roadside.
As it was a Purattasi Saturday, we expected a crowd -- and yes, there was about a 30-minute wait for two people, which was fine. They even have a QR code system to register your name in the queue, which is very convenient.
The dining area is small and simple, with tables placed close together, but the food quality more than makes up for it. We ordered one Regular Meal and one Purattasi Special Meal.
The Regular Meal came with the usual items, while the Purattasi Special Meal was truly a feast -- it included:
Maavizhukku, Coconut Rice, Lemon Rice, Ellu Rice, Tamarind Rice, Veg Biryani, Vathakulambu Mixed Rice, Poriyal, Aviyal, Masiyal, White Rice, Sambar, Rasam, Curd Rice, and Panagam -- all UNLIMITED!
Each dish was authentic, flavorful, and cooked with great care and dedication. The taste was simply heavenly -- one of the best traditional vegetarian meals we've had in a long time.
And the best part -- the pricing is very, very reasonable. We paid just under 300 for both meals, which is amazing value for the quality and quantity offered.
Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys authentic South Indian meals. Just be patient with the waiting time -- it's absolutely worth it!

We ordered the following:
1. Mudakkathan dosa
2. Set dosa vadacurry
3. Pudi Kozhukattai
4. Keerai vada
5. Adai Aviyal
6. Idiyappam Kurma
7. Elaneer Payasam
8. Paal Sharbat
Mudakkathan dosa, Elaneer Payasam, Keerai Vada were must haves- absolutely do not miss out on trying them.
Set dosa with vadacurry, Pudi Kozhukattai and Idiyappam Kurma were pretty good if you wanted to try something different from the standard fare.
Adai Aviyal was average, and the Paal Sharbat is a mix of Milkmaid and Nannari Sharbat, which was far too sweet.
Service was extremely fast, and even on a crowded evening we only waited about 15 minutes to get a table. The staff was super courteous, but the restaurant itself is a bit cramped especially when crowded.
Overall, definitely worth a visit.
Update : went for breakfast, ordered the Millet Mini Meal (last pic attached), this was excellent. Vada is not included in this meal, but the Ragi Poori was so delicious with no excess oil, Pongal and Dosa both excellent. I highly recommend you try this particular set in the morning , 10/10.

In simple words the best way to describe this vegetarian eatery is " Simply Outstanding" . South Indian dishes specially from Tamilnadu they offer are purely a foodie delight. Combo options are a must try ( subject to availability) , also best time to visit on weekends. Rates are reasonable, sitting is limited but delicious food just makes forget you these constraints. On the table the three chutney were the best on taste and pallate.
