Want view? Take the table on the right near the window.. If you're in MG road, Gangtok and want to tast some good Tibetian food, this is the place. It has excellent vibes, the service is good, staff is knowledgeable and the best part, the food is amazing. Combine the above with some HIT beer and your meals is done. PS: Tibetian food is a little bland. If you're expecting it to be full of masalas then you'll be disappointed. Many of the dishes won't even have good amount of salt. This restaurant is famous and usually there's a wait. So be on time and grab the table. Or else usually you'll end up waiting for long The servers are knowledgeable and go with their recommendations. They know their local food better than the tourists. You'll find a lot of foreigners here. If you're a vegetarian you have good amount of dishes but many many not be of your palatte. If you want the view take the table on the right near the window

Taste of Tibet is a small yet popular restaurant tucked away on the first floor along the bustling MG Marg in Gangtok. Known for its Tibetan specialties like momos, shyaphale, and thukpa (or thumpa), it's a cozy spot that draws both tourists and locals. We tried a few of their signature dishes. The momos were decent but didn't quite live up to the hype -- they lacked the punch of flavor we were expecting. However, the thumpa completely won us over with its rich and comforting taste -- perfect for the chilly weather. The shyaphale was another highlight: crispy and well-fried on the outside with a generous, flavorful chicken stuffing inside. Overall, Taste of Tibet is a good place to stop by if you're exploring MG Marg and craving some Tibetan comfort food. It's definitely worth a visit for the thumpa and shyaphale!

My recent visit to Taste of Tibet provided a clear paradox: one of the best locations in the area paired with a surprisingly poor execution of their signature dish. The restaurant's biggest asset is undoubtedly its position right beside MG Marg. Seated on the covered rooftop, you get a lovely view of the bustling, illuminated street below, making it an ideal spot for lunch, dinner, or evening snacks. The ambiance is vibrant and enjoyable, promising a great meal out. Unfortunately, the experience took a downturn once the food arrived. I ordered both a plate of Pork Momos and Chicken Momos. The primary issue lay with the wrappers. The dough coating on the Pork Momos was excessively thick and, critically, seemed under-steamed. It was stiff, indicating it had not been cooked properly. The Chicken Momos, while slightly better, also featured a coating that was considerably thicker than the delicate, fine wrappers I am accustomed to enjoying in places like Kolkata. When I inquired about the thick texture and consistency, the response I received was simply that "it is like that only," which honestly left me skeptical about the preparation standards. Ultimately, the wrapper quality was so distracting that I was forced to eat only the flavorful filling, leaving the majority of the dough behind. This was a significant disappointment for a dish central to Tibetan cuisine. Thankfully, a secondary order, the Chicken Wonton Soup, was genuinely good and the quantity was also enough for 2
