I'm totally gobsmacked--how did I, a die-hard Kolhapuri who worships spicy culture, miss Ambika Kat Vada in Rajarampuri for nearly 20 years?! After finally hearing rave reviews across the web (Google gives it a solid 4.1 from nearly 180 reviewers ), I dropped by last week--and BOOM! That first bite of the kat-vada was a flavour bomb going off in my mouth. Somehow, the vada stayed crispy even while luxuriating in the soupy spicy kat, and the batata bhaji inside was seasoned like it graduated top of its class. Every bite felt like a tiny choreographed dance of spices reaching all corners of my mouth. In one word: khtrnaak! From now on, no more missing out--Ambika's is officially bumped to the top of my snack hit-list.
