Raja Rani Mahal

The hamams and all were good. The construction was also good. But they have to make it more accessible as a tourist place considering Stree hindi movie has done its part in promoting the place.

The Raja Rani Mahal in Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh, India, is actually a complex of two distinct palaces: * Raja Mahal: A seven-story structure showcasing elaborate carvings and architectural grandeur. * Rani Mahal: A smaller, four-story palace connected to the Raja Mahal by a secret passage. This mahal was filmed in the movie "Stree" and "Stree 2" Dec - 2024

2 palaces located next to each other lie in a terrible state in the heart of Chanderi town. When the other monuments around Chanderi are so well maintained, why are these 2 grand palaces in such a dilapidated state, I ask myself. The answer is this - these 2 monuments are not under the ownership of ASI, they fall under the jurisdiction of Nagar palika who is least bothered in developing these into a tourist place. If only these could be handed over to ASI, we would have another great monuments in the itinerary of Chanderi visitors! They remain open all the time but better to be avoided because of the risk of unsocial elements and animals.

This place is mainly divided into two parts, the king's palace and the queen's palace. This place is also counted among the major sightseeing places of Chanderi. Due to some reasons, this place is now rarely opened. I had also found this place closed, so I have taken a photo from outside.

An interesting place. It became popular after the movie Stree was filmed here. It is located next to the Jain temple. It was excavated a while back and was underground for a long period. The inhabitants of this palace would hide underground whenever there was an attack by invaders.
