One of the nostalgic places around MIT. Visited this place after 8 years and it looks like nothing has been changed. Taste, quality, quantity and atmosphere remains the same. Even the cost has not been increased so much. Hard to locate from the outside but if you know, you know where you can go for lunch/dinner when you're on budget and need good food. P. S. : Don't leave without trying Lassi.
Name a hotel around Manipal which serves better roti than Northy Mess, I will wait. They serve the best Pulka roti with dal and subji. They also have non-veg options. Lassi is a must have! Meal is unlimited here, with roti and rice. Hard to locate the place from the roadside though.
Food tastes good but the place in very unhygienic. Dirty kitchen, staff do not wash their hands after using the washroom and serve you with the same hands.
One good thing is the FOOD - Good north Indian food for a decent price. Service is always delayed, have to ask them repeatedly. Place could be more cleaner and hygienic.
The food is amazing here. The only issue is the place itself. The mess is situated in a very shady neighbourhood. Also, one day I even saw a mouse at the mess. So if hygiene is your priority over cheap meals, this place is certainly not for you. The taste is good and the price is great, but I would still recommend NBQ mess for students trying out new places.
