Visited Hotel Popular Guruprasad today in Madikeri - it's one of those old-style vegetarian hotels that a lot of locals seem to know about. The food, honestly, was pretty good. I had their veg meals and some tiffin items, and they were really tasty. Simple, homely flavors - nothing fancy but definitely satisfying if you're hungry and just want a decent vegetarian meal. They also serve snacks and tiffin items like dosa, vada, etc., which are worth trying. The taste is good and the pricing is decent too. So if you're just passing by and want a quick veg bite, it's not a bad option. But the place itself is a bit of a letdown. It's small and feels very congested inside. There's barely space to move around, especially if it gets crowded. The cleanliness isn't great, and there's no proper washroom, which was quite disappointing. The dining area didn't feel very tidy either. Most of the staff are elderly people, and while that gives the place an old-school charm, it also means service is a bit slow, and cleanliness takes a hit. Tables weren't cleaned properly between customers, and overall maintenance seems poor. To be honest, it's more of a one-time eatable kind of place. You come here, grab a quick meal, and move on. Don't expect comfort or cleanliness, but if you just want tasty veg food and don't mind the surroundings, it'll do the job. Wouldn't really recommend for families or if you're particular about hygiene. But for a solo, quick veg bite, it's okay.
