O Coqueiro: A Hidden Seafood Gem Near INS Khukri Memorial in Diu!
We stumbled upon O Coqueiro while scrolling through TripAdvisor during our Diu trip. At first, I was reluctant--another beachside shack? We've had our share of hit-or-miss seafood spots in Goa. But it was just a short walk from the INS Khukri Memorial, so we decided to give it a shot. Best decision ever!
Our first meal was a seafood feast: Bangda fish fry, king prawns, and crab. The fish fry was outstanding--crispy, perfectly spiced, and zero fishy smell (a common Goa gripe). As an avid fish lover who's sampled the best in Goa, Pondicherry, Bangalore, Mumbai, Bengal, and Delhi, this was top-tier deliciousness.
But oh, the king prawns! They were so-so sweet--no, wait, beyond sweet. I've never tasted anything like it in my life. They melted in my mouth, and that mind-blowing sweetness stole my heart completely.
The crab? Even better than the renowned seafood hotels in Mumbai. Juicy, flavorful, and simply unbeatable.
The hospitality sealed the deal. The chef, his wife, and son were incredibly warm--we chatted about food for a full hour! Such genuine vibes.
We couldn't resist returning the next day for kingfish curry and king prawn fry. Both were divine--rich, aromatic, and perfectly executed.
We'll be back to Diu for sure, and O Coqueiro is now our must-visit. Bon appetit! Highly recommend for seafood lovers.

This place was one of the main highlights of my Diu visit. I went there for dinner on the first day of the trip with a burning itch to finally get my hands on some proper seafood. The ambience of the place is very earthy and cozy. The dining space is adorned with lots of plants and creepers and it really has a homely environment to it. The Chef, Kailash Pandey and their partner helped with the menu and gave a lip smacking dish of fried mackerels and portugese style prawn curry with rice. The smell of the fried fish emanating from their kitchen had me so excited and lowkey gave me that Ratatouille-esque flashback of me waiting for my mum to come with her dish of fried fish for supper. The fish was wonderfully fried, the masala tasted really good and the most important thing, the fish was fresh. The portugese style prawn curry was equally good, although i felt that maybe that curry would go better with kerala style appams instead of rice. Right after my first bite, i had decided that i would be visiting the place again the next day for lunch. I really gotta thank Chef Pandey and their partner for being so gracious enough to have served me with their wonderful food even though I turned up at their place for lunch really late. And again, their food was as appetizing as it was the previous night. The prawn masala was so good. The freshness of the fish and prawns that they use is commendable.
I would recommend this place for everyone who plans on visiting Diu. O'Coqueiro serves outstanding cuisines, and caters to almost every taste palette. And ofcoz this place is a goldmine for people who need to satiate their seafood cravings. The hosts are wonderful people and really makes the place feel like home with their demeanor and ofcoz through the tasty dishes they serve.
I will be visiting this place again, and again, and again...

O'Cocura is an excellent choice for anyone looking to enjoy authentic seafood prepared with care and expertise. The restaurant offers a variety of freshly caught fish, cooked to perfection with a wonderful balance of spices and flavors. The grilled fish I tried was outstanding - crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, and served with a refreshing mix of salad and lemon that enhanced the overall taste.
The quality of the food clearly reflects the freshness of the ingredients, making it a standout for seafood lovers. Due to the restaurant's popularity and high demand, it is strongly recommended to visit only after confirming availability, as walk-ins may not always be accommodated. The ambiance is simple yet welcoming, and the focus is rightly on serving food that speaks for itself.
Overall, O'Cocura is a place where quality and flavor meet, and it is highly recommended for anyone who appreciates well-prepared seafood.

I visited the place on 24 th of October because it came highly recommended and I had been there once several years ago. This time the food was miserable. The Portugese curry was overwhelmed with Dhania powder and the masala prawns were swimming in an overpowering tomato gravy. The prawns were grainy and possibly not properly cleaned. The host mr Pandey, when called for ordering lobster, made it a point to mention that it was way expensive and out of my league!!! His son refused to share a contact number and was very rude, saying he was way too busy to take calls. Over all my experience was abysmal, disappointing and crude. I will never go to the over priced place again. I don't recommend it. You can get better, cheaper and worth for money food ANYWHERE else in Diu.
