Babu Culture in Sonarpur offers a dining experience with a nostalgic ambiance that reflects traditional Bengali culture. The restaurant's decor is decent, creating a welcoming atmosphere for visitors. We ordered the Mahabhoj Thali, which costs 899 per head. However, the food quality did not meet my expectations. The Kacha Lanka Mutton and Chingri Malai Curry were particularly disappointing in taste. The Bhetki Paturi also failed to impress. On the other hand, the Barishali Shile Bata Chicken was excellent, standing out as one of the best dishes. Several side dishes, including Shukto, Aloo Bhaja, Beguni, Fish Fry, Dal, Dub Chaas, Payesh, Chutney, Papad, Sweets, Luchi, and Alur Dum, were quite flavorful and enjoyable. Additionally, the restaurant serves Sweet Pan, which was a nice touch and tasted good. The service was decent, and the staff behavior was not bad. However, some logistical issues need improvement--parking is a bit problematic, and the washroom is located quite far from the main dining area, which can be inconvenient for customers. Final Verdict Overall, the food quality did not meet my expectations. Given the price of 899 per head, the experience was underwhelming. Some dishes were good, but the disappointing items made it less enjoyable. In this price range, I would expect a much better dining experience. Would I recommend it? Only if you're looking to try specific dishes like Barishali Shile Bata Chicken and enjoy a variety of Bengali side dishes. Otherwise, there are better options available for the same price.
