This is very Decent vegetarian restaurant in Srivilliputhur ... They offer fresh South Indian tiffin in morning and evening ... they offer wonderful tiffin in afternoon .... However both dine-in section and parcel section is always crowded and there almost always chaos situation .... Their poori masal is smaller quantity .... Pongal quantity is too small ... idly ok in size ...may be because of monopoly they offer smaller quantity of food and with bit expensive rates ... otherwise ok ... We could not get their afternoon lunch because of huge crowd in May 2025 ... I am giving 4/5 in Google ranking because of taste of food ...

We visited Hotel Kathiravan on 24th August as a family for lunch. We ordered meals, and the food was absolutely delightful--just like home-cooked food. Everything tasted great. The staff and service were equally impressive; the team was attentive, detail-oriented, and seemed genuinely dedicated to their work. I understand that this is a legacy hotel with an old setup, but I had the chance to use their restroom, and on the way, I had to pass through the kitchen. To my surprise, the kitchen environment was extremely hot, with outdated facilities and no proper exhaust system to remove heat and fumes. It's hard to imagine how the cooking staff manages to work under such extreme conditions. While customers enjoy the wonderful food, the people preparing it seem to endure a very challenging environment. I sincerely hope the management takes this feedback constructively and makes improvements to create a better, safer workplace for their staff.

Went for breakfast here and had idly . Idly was soft and good . The chutneys they served with idly were excellent. Sambar was average. Tea is not served by waiters in this restaurant. We have to take a coupon for tea from an adjacent hotel and bring that coupon to this restaurant and take tea from the person who makes tea/coffee. Hygiene is slightly less in this restaurant. It is very old hotel n this area. They are maintaining the excellent taste for the past4 Generations. Their Pongal and vadai varities are mouth watering. My Grandfather Used to tell when he studied n Hindu High School some n early 1916 had tiffin here. A must visit one. Please donot expect fancy dishes. Only authetic traditional quality food items three types of sambar and varities of Chutneys

We visited Madurai in May 2025 and had lunch at this hotel after seeing good reviews. But the experience was disappointing. As soon as we entered, the person at the cash counter asked us to pay 145 for a banana leaf meal. The service was very poor. The servers forgot to serve most of the side dishes -- we had to keep reminding them to bring items like rasam and buttermilk, which were supposed to be included. Sweets like payasam had to be bought separately. For 145, the food and service were not worth it. If they charged around 80, it would be acceptable. Also, they don't serve extra rice. Hygiene: The hand-washing area was not clean. Taste: Only the vatha kulambu was tasty. Note: There is another Kathiravan AC restaurant located near the original one, but most people mistakenly think it is the original. In reality, the non-AC Kathiravan is the original and oldest restaurant.
