Muttram - A Carnatic Canteen

We had the pleasure of dining in this exquisite and unique traditional canteen. Their selectively curated menu , though limited , was a treat for the taste buds. We had mapillai samba dosai, Nellore kaara dosai, neer dosai , vadai and panangalkandu paal. Each dish was competing with the other. Loved the aromatic sambar and tasty chutneys. Neer dosai was served with coconut milk with a subtle hint of elaichi which was too good. The menu is all vegetarian. Water served in mud vessels and copper glasses used. Very authentic. I must mention the staff were very courteous. And they have a retail outlet by the side where we can purchase clay, stone, copper and other traditinal cookware and serve ware. Felt it was a bit pricey for the quantity. But would definitely recommend for taste.

Tasty food and pretty good ambience. But service is slow and not quite satisfactory. They came when we entered. But after that, we couldn't find anyone to place subsequent orders even though the restaurant was very empty. Could be an one off case though. Nellore Kara Dosa was amazing. Thooyamalli dosa was similar to normal dosa. We felt it was slightly expensive considering the quantity.

I came to know about this place through an Insta reel . We were in ECR and went to this restaurant for dinner . Atmosphere is normal/ nothing special with apt lighting and comfortable seating. It is in the middle of the shop. The menu is crisp with limited options to choose from. We 5 people ordered - - Thooyamalli Masala Dosai (5/5) - Nellore Karam Dosai (4/5) - Mapilai Samba masala dosai (4.5/5) - MLA Pesarattu (4/5) - Vattappam (5/5) - Pongal (5/5) - Thooyamalli idly (3.5/5) - Karupu Kavuni Arisi Payasam (3.5/5) - Rose milk (4/5) The food ordered was served a bit delayed than anticipated. The taste of all items are good Even the sambar and chutney varieties are excellent The ginger chutney accompanied with MLA Pesarattu is good. Coconut milk came with vattappam is also good with apt level of sweetness. Karupu Kavuni Arisi Payasam lacks the punch due to less sweetness. Rose milk is good but the sweetness level needs slight fine tuning. Service is average . They can be a bit speedy and attentive. Each time we need to call and ask for sambar etc. Also by the time they bring we might finish consuming without that. I won't say they are bad but they can make the experience even better by being quick and more attentive. Pricing is slightly on the higher side but ok considering the quality (Organic) of material used and awesome taste they provide for such healthy food options. Overall it was a satisfying experience barring delayed subpar service.

Love this place! We've gone twice and both times the food is fresh and delicious. There is a small menu, so it's a great place for a snack or a light meal. I think the prices are good for how good the food is, as well as the excellent staff. We've had the pessarettu, mini tiffin, kara dosa, vattayappam, and Vada. Would recommend them all! There is also an organic store that sells some food items, clay and steel vessels, and some brass products. All very beautiful.

The best place in ECR for coffee and tiffen. The pricing of the tiffen slightly seems to be over priced, but then the ambience and the taste overshadows the price. Soo quiet and surrounded by plants with an organic indoor set up. So far this is the best filter coffee I've had in ECR, no doubt at all. A must visit place in ECR. This is the ONLY TRUE KARNATIC restaurant in ECR.
