An old restaurant located on Thalassery to Mahe Road. I've visited multiple times -- the biriyani is good, though not as outstanding as in previous years, and there are other food options available. The ambiance feels like an old home/tharavadu. Parking is limited and can be difficult. Customer service is mixed: some staff are just doing their job, while an older gentleman treats customers very kindly, making you feel at home. Overall, it's a clean restaurant with good food. Positives: Good biriyani and other food options Clean and well-maintained Some staff are very kind and welcoming Negatives: Parking is limited and difficult Customer service is inconsistent

Paris Restaurant (Old) is one of the classic and well-known spots in Thalassery, especially famous for its biryani. The place has that old charm and serves good, decent biryani that definitely lives up to its reputation. The only drawback is the lack of parking space, so you'll need to find a spot nearby. But apart from that, it's a great place to experience some authentic Thalassery flavours. Definitely worth a visit if you're in town!

I recently visited the old branch of Paris Restaurant and tried their Chicken Biryani. Unfortunately, the experience didn't quite live up to expectations, especially considering the restaurant's legacy and past reputation. Food: The biryani was made using leg piece chicken, but it lacked the tenderness you'd expect--it was quite tough and not soft at all. The rice was well-cooked and had a good texture, but the masala was overpowering--too much, to the point where it dominated the dish rather than complementing it. The accompanying side items included pickle and coconut chutney, both of which were just average in taste. However, the curd salad was excellent and added a refreshing element to the meal. The portion of rice served was decent and satisfactory. Ambience: The restaurant is housed in an old building that reminded me of traditional ancestral homes, giving off a nice nostalgic and vintage vibe, which I appreciated. Service: The staff member who served me was polite and courteous, which added a positive touch to the dining experience. On the other hand, the cashier, an older gentleman, was extremely unfriendly and had a grumpy attitude. It wasn't just me--he seemed to behave the same way with other customers as well. His demeanor brought down the overall experience. Overall: Despite the nostalgia and decent service by the waiter, the food did not meet expectations, and the attitude of the cashier left a negative impression. In summary, I would rate this visit as below average.

Visited the old Paris Restaurant mainly to try their popular chicken biriyani. I have to say, the biriyani rice was one of the best I've ever had - flavourful, aromatic, and cooked perfectly. The only downside was the chicken itself; it felt a bit tougher than usual, probably because they use a different type of chicken. The restaurant has that old-school charm but being an older establishment, the ventilation isn't great. It can feel slightly warm and stuffy inside, especially during peak hours. Still, if you're here just for the biriyani experience, it's worth a visit.

Paris Hotel is a charming, small shop with a classic vintage setup that promises an authentic experience. The food certainly delivers on that promise. I had their Thalassery Biryani, which, at 190, was excellent value. The quality and quantity were both very good, offering a generous portion of the classic, non-spicy biryani. The food is plentiful and satisfying. While parking is limited, it's understandable for a small establishment in a busy area and wasn't a major issue. The only real problem was the atmosphere created by the staff. We felt constantly rushed throughout our meal, which made it unpleasant and difficult to relax and enjoy the good food. This feeling of being hurried by the employees was the one significant drawback to the visit. Overall: Paris Hotel is a great spot for its tasty, value-for-money food. It's best suited for a quick meal or, even better, a takeaway so you can enjoy the delicious biryani at your own pace without feeling pressured.
