Over 2000 years of rich history have shaped the cuisine
of the idyllic Indian coastal region of Malabar once the
epicentre of the old spice trade, settlers from the Arab
world, Portugal , Turkey and the Netherlands all helped
create the delicious and unique dishes we see in the
modern day state of kerala. Mannil Rayroth Abdullah (
MRA ) understood his homeland's tradition of fusion
better than most in 1965, he made it this mission to
combine the best of Malabar cuisine with western style
bread and cakes, working day and night to develop new
and innovative recipes to the highest culinary starting
out from a single store , the MRA Bakery quickly spread
throughout the entire region.
hicken, Alfam, Tandoori chicken, and Wayanad beef gravy.
The Alfam could use some improvement in terms of flavor and tenderness.
The Tandoori chicken was top-class -- perfectly cooked with rich, smoky flavors.
Peri Peri chicken was also quite good, well-marinated, and mildly spicy.
But the star of the evening was undoubtedly the Wayanad beef gravy -- rich, flavorful, and absolutely delicious.
One downside was that a lot of menu items were out of stock, which was a bit disappointing.
Overall, a good dining experience with some standout dishes, but stocking and consistency could be better

Extremely Disappointing Experience at MRA Restaurant & Bakery, Thalassery
I recently visited MRA Restaurant & Bakery in Thalassery, hoping for a pleasant dining experience, but unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the worst I have encountered.
Service: Unacceptable
The service was appalling. Upon arrival, we were ignored for an extended period before being seated. The staff appeared disinterested and uncooperative. Despite multiple requests for basic items like water and condiments, they were either ignored or provided after a long wait. The waitstaff seemed overwhelmed and untrained, leading to a chaotic and frustrating dining experience.
Food Quality: Subpar and Unhygienic
The food quality was equally disappointing. We ordered a variety of dishes, including biryani, chicken mandi, and various snacks. To our dismay, the biryani was bland and lacked the rich flavors one would expect. The chicken in the mandi was overcooked and dry, and the snacks were stale, indicating they had been sitting out for too long. Additionally, we found a thread used to tie mint and coriander leaves in our biryani, which is a serious hygiene concern.
Hygiene Standards: Concerning
The hygiene standards were far from acceptable. The dining area appeared unclean, with visible stains on tables and chairs. The restrooms were in poor condition, lacking basic cleanliness and maintenance. This lack of attention to cleanliness raises serious concerns about the overall hygiene practices of the establishment.
Management: Unresponsive and Unprofessional
When we brought these issues to the attention of the management, they were dismissive and unhelpful. They offered no apologies or solutions, further exacerbating our frustration. The lack of professionalism and customer care was evident and left a lasting negative impression.
Conclusion: Avoid at All Costs
In conclusion, MRA Restaurant & Bakery in Thalassery failed to meet even the most basic expectations of service, food quality, and hygiene. The combination of poor service, subpar food, and unprofessional management makes it a place I would strongly advise others to avoid. There are numerous other dining options in Thalassery that offer a far superior experience. I will not be returning to MRA Restaurant & Bakery and cannot recommend it to anyone seeking a quality dining experience.

The food and the ambience of the restaurant is good. The menu covers most of the cuisine varieties from local dishes across Kerala and other Indian states along with Indo-Chinese and Arabic ones.
The restaurant parking for cars is a concern as there are only a few ones and does not even cover the number of tables. There is also a tea stall and bakery which increases the footfall and makes the area congested.
One suggestion for the restaurant management would be to offer valet parking to restaurant consumers to ease the difficulty. I saw many customers changing plans and returning out due to no parking when i was downstairs. Those are lost consumers who may never return and their word of mouth will deter others to include MRA to their plans.

Visited MRA Hotel in Thalassery expecting a good meal, but the experience was just okay. The food was decent, nothing exceptional, but the waiting time was too long, which was frustrating. Service was polite but slow, likely due to the crowd. If you're in no rush, it's fine, but not the best choice for a quick bite.
