Salkara Restaurant

I tried the Alfaham and Butter Chicken here. The Alfaham was really good and flavorful, while the Butter Chicken was just okay, a bit too sweet for my taste, so I wouldn't recommend it. The ambience was nice, and there's plenty of parking space available. Prices are on the higher side.

I've visited Salkara at Chelavoor several times, and overall, it's been a good experience. The place is conveniently located on the highway with ample parking, making it an easy stop if you're around Chelavoor or passing by. The service has always been pleasant and efficient. On one of my earlier visits, I had tried their pulav, irachichoru, and manchow soup, which felt just average. However, during a recent family outing, we tried a few new items and the experience was much better this time. The attinkal soup stood out--it was really flavorful. Ghee rice with chicken stew, appam, porotta, honey mint salad, and alfaham were all enjoyable. Chicken tikka and tangdi kabab were decent, and the Ayala mulakittath was something the elders in the family particularly liked. A nice spot for a family meal, with a menu that keeps getting better.

I had a wonderful experience at your restaurant! The chicken stew and chicken lollipop were absolutely delicious - packed with flavor and perfectly cooked. The Appam and Tea combination was comforting and just what I needed. I also really appreciated the spacious parking area - it made the visit so convenient. One small suggestion: while the interiors are warm and welcoming, a bit more privacy in the seating arrangements would enhance the overall dining experience. Looking forward to visiting again soon!

We recently dined here as a group of around 15 people, and the experience was truly delightful. The restaurant has a classy and elegant vibe, with a beautiful ambience that must look even more stunning in the evening. The interiors are tastefully done, and the seating arrangements were spacious and comfortable, even for a large group like ours. Every dish we ordered was delicious and served in a surprisingly short time. The service was smooth and well-coordinated, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The staff were warm, attentive, and courteous, ensuring that we felt welcomed and taken care of throughout. Overall, it was a lovely evening with great food, great service, and a perfect setting. Disappointing Experience at Salkara, Chelavoor - Great Food, Terrible Service My wife and I came to Salkara in Chelavoor today, October 5, 2025, for our Sunday breakfast, which is usually a happy occasion for us. We specifically chose Salkara because of the excellent reputation of the brand, having had wonderful experiences at their other locations, like the Nadakkav branch, which is outstanding in terms of service. The Major Issue We ordered porotta, Malabar chicken curry, nice pathiri, tea, and a Horlicks. Unfortunately, our experience quickly went downhill. We found a hair embedded in one of the porottas, which was extremely unhygienic and made my wife feel ill. The staff did eventually replace the porotta, but the overall service was poor. It took a long time to get the waiters' attention for any request. Further Service Lapses Following the incident, I tried to order a juice. The "captain" himself was unresponsive and seemed disinterested. When asked about available juices, he initially said he didn't know what they had and only came back after a significant delay to list the options. This lack of attention and poor communication from a senior staff member was very frustrating. Conclusion The Salkara brand has excellent food, and our experience at the Salkara Nadakkav branch has always been truly excellent--they may not have the best interiors or facilities, but their service is top-notch. Based on today's experience of the hygiene lapse and the consistently poor, slow, and inattentive service from multiple staff members, including the captain, I recommend the Salkara brand but strongly advise against visiting the Chelavoor branch. The service here severely detracts from the meal.
