Udupi's Restaurant

Udupi Restaurant, located right in front of Kollam Railway Station, was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had in a long time. Given its prime location, I expected at least a basic level of quality and hygiene, but what I encountered was far from acceptable--both in terms of food and service. To begin with, the food was extremely poor. I ordered a masala dosa, and I can honestly say it was one of the worst masala dosas I've ever eaten in my life. The dosa was soggy and tasteless, the filling was cold and lacked flavor, and the chutney and sambar that came with it were bland and watery. It felt like there was absolutely no care or effort put into the preparation. It was such a letdown, especially coming from a restaurant that carries the "Udupi" name, which is usually associated with decent South Indian vegetarian food. The service was equally bad. The staff seemed disinterested and inattentive. Even basic requests like a glass of water or an extra spoon were ignored or delayed without any apology. There was no sense of customer care or hospitality. Despite being hardly crowded when I visited, the waiting time was long, and no one seemed concerned about whether the customers were satisfied or not. What made the experience worse was the unclean wash area. The hand wash zone was dirty, with water spilled all over the floor, and the sinks looked like they hadn't been cleaned for days. To make matters worse, they don't even have a proper washroom, which is shocking for a restaurant located at such a busy junction near a major railway station. For travelers or commuters looking for a decent place to eat and freshen up, this is definitely not the place. Overall, I left the place feeling highly disappointed. Udupi Restaurant in front of Kollam Railway Station fails in almost every aspect--terrible food, bad service, and unhygienic conditions. It might survive due to its location, but if you're looking for a clean, decent meal around Kollam railway station, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

A vegetarian hotel opposite Kollam railway station. Not a spacious or clean hotel. But yes it's ok. I tried poori Masala and it was good. I could see a lot of snacks prepared and kept. As usual vada was added on with poori and i said no

Seems like it's not an authentic Udupi hotel. But one good vegetarian hotel near to kollam railway station. Foods are tasty, not bad. Tamilnadu style foods are available here. There is no parking space . It's located very near to kollam railway station. Hope u can opt this hotel for a good vegetarian food. Nice staff behaviour and price is affordable

This vegetarian restaurant is near Kollam railway station. Their food was average in taste. Many times I have bought food from this restaurant. Some days they serve good food, some days bad. I have mostly tried masala dosa, vada, and coffee. Sometimes they use milk powder for making coffee, and at those times the coffee is very bad. It is walkable distance from Kollam railway station's main gate. They do not have any parking space. The service and cleanliness are not good.
