This tiffin place gets super busy on weekends, and they don't take prior reservations. However, the queue moves quickly, and the service is impressively fast. It's also listed as a Travellers' Choice spot -- and rightly so! We were determined to try the Maddur Vada since it's said to be the birthplace of it. The staff, though very busy, were attentive and efficient. The ghee-laden Thatte Idli was my personal favourite -- soft and full of flavour. The vada was good too, though I've had slightly better versions elsewhere. Overall, it was a nice experience and definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.
