I really enjoyed my meal here. The dosa was perfectly crisp and flavorful, paired with sambar that was rich and absolutely delicious. The service was quick and attentive. A great spot if you're craving authentic South Indian flavors!

During my recent visit to Tinsukia, I had the chance to dine at South Indian Restaurant (SIR) twice. My first experience was excellent--I ordered the Cheese Masala Dosa, and it was absolutely amazing. The dosa was perfectly crisp, generously filled, and packed with flavor. It genuinely blew me away. We had also ordered tea along with the meal, but unfortunately, it took so long to arrive that we ended up canceling it. Still, the dosa made up for the delay. Encouraged by that first visit, I returned a few days later and ordered the same dish, hoping for a repeat of the delicious experience. However, this time it was a bit disappointing. The dosa lacked the same freshness and flavor, and the sambar was excessively salty, which really took away from the overall experience. On a positive note, the tea was served promptly this time and was quite good. One of the standout features of SIR is the ambiance--the place is clean, beautifully maintained, and quite spacious, making it a comfortable spot for dining. However, for a dish priced at around 180, I expected more consistency in quality. The price would be reasonable if they could maintain the same standard every time. Overall, SIR shows great potential and certainly knows how to deliver a fantastic South Indian dish--but maintaining consistency is key. I'd still recommend giving it a try, especially if you catch them on a good day.
So I went in to this amazing restaurant today for a quick coffee break. Sadly the filter coffee was cold and wasn't tasting as soothing as I was expecting. The Dibrugarh outlet is anyways my favourite and my all time go to place. Will try again soon and update.
Restaurant Review: SIR Restaurant, Tinsukia, Assam Tinsukia is slowly but surely seeing a wave of new-age culinary experiences, and SIR Restaurant is a refreshing example of that change. Tucked amidst the bustling streets of the town, this eatery stands out not just for its food but for its thoughtful concept and cozy ambience. Ambience & Interior Concept The moment you step into SIR Restaurant, it's evident that a lot of love and thought has gone into designing the space. The atmosphere is calm and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a quiet meal, a friendly get-together, or even a solo reading session. What truly sets SIR apart is its unique interior concept--a wall lined with books, both antique and contemporary, which adds a soulful charm to the place. It's not every day you come across a restaurant that encourages reading while dining. There's a nostalgic, intellectual touch to the space, almost like a mini library cafe. Adding to the character are antique elements and original paintings, many of which are part of an interactive decor idea--guests can engage with the artwork and stand a chance to win discounts. This innovative combination of art, literature, and food makes SIR more than just a restaurant--it becomes a cultural nook. Service & Staff The staff is polite and accommodating. They are well-versed in the concept of the place and are happy to explain how the book-wall and art discounts work, which adds a layer of personal touch and interaction. Food Experience The food at SIR complements its ambience well--simple, comforting, and well-plated. The menu is decently curated to cater to different tastes, with a mix of Indian and Continental options. While the presentation and serving style sync well with the overall vibe of the place, the taste of the food, though satisfactory, leaves a small room for improvement. Some dishes could benefit from a little more depth in flavor or seasoning. However, this isn't a dealbreaker, and with a bit of refinement, the food can easily reach the level of excellence that the ambience promises. Final Verdict SIR Restaurant is a gem in Tinsukia's growing food scene. It offers an experience that blends dining with art, books, and thoughtful decor. The ambience is warm and unique, the interactive elements are innovative, and the food--though slightly lacking in taste--has the potential to become exceptional. If you're looking for a place that offers more than just a meal--a space to relax, engage, and enjoy--SIR is definitely worth a visit.
